My time in Hawaii was nothing short of dynamic, filled with opportunities that kept me deeply engaged and always moving forward. Whether it was serving the local community, supporting military efforts, or flexing my social work muscles in innovative ways, I found myself constantly immersed in projects that challenged and inspired me. Each day brought a new chance to make an impact and grow as a leader, clinician, and Soldier.
The memorial march is nothing short of an amazing honor. Carrying this tradition during the confines of COVID19 demonstrated creativity and determination to honor our fallen Social Workers.
But it wasn’t all work and no play—Hawaii’s natural beauty and vibrant culture made sure of that. From catching waves at sunrise to hiking trails that led to breathtaking waterfalls, I soaked in the island spirit whenever I could. Longboarding under the palm trees and enjoying fresh poke or a mai tai at sunset became small rituals that kept life balanced and meaningful. Hawaii taught me the importance of finding joy in the little things and living in the moment.
This chapter in my journey was about more than just professional growth—it was about learning to embrace both purpose and play. The islands will always hold a special place in my heart, a reminder of the power of hard work, community, and a little aloha along the way.
