Something peculiar happens when your dreams come true. It’s as if the world has made sense the whole time. All the trials, heartbreaks, and sacrifices finally come to fruition and you realize that they weren’t just painful experiences, but opportunities to shape you to be in this exact moment.

When I received the news that I was one of five applicants selected for the U.S. Army’s SWIP, I was at a loss for words. Having just exited my enlistment, I couldn’t wait to get back into the fight as a soldier.
